Sydney, Australia November 19, 2004 -- The ePost service, a simple concept new to Australia, was launched to the internet community today. An airmail that normally takes weeks to arrive in Australia can arrive at the designated address overnight. ePost enables any individual or business from anywhere in the world to send an ePost to an address in Australia for AUD 80 cents.

The service, which currently allows users to send a text message or a file, guarantees that an ePost will be processed for delivery through the Australia Post network the same day it is submitted. It incorporates the functionality of the old telegram with todays technology to produce a sophisticated hard copy letter.

ePost enables a user to send a message to a person who does not have access to email, which in Australia is approximately 75% of the population. As with email, users can view the ePosts theyve sent in the last 30 days along with the address they sent it to, the files they attached and the cost of the ePost.

Suitable for the individual sending a letter, a postcard or a birthday greeting, suitable for businesses sending documents on letterhead, invoices or brochures, the benefits of using the service are available to Australians as well. For example, if you live in the Australian outback it is a long way to the nearest post office or if you just cant leave the office, you can send a letter from your desktop.

The launch of the service coincides with the completed integration of a St George Bank online payment gateway and the commencement of a local marketing campaign featuring the slogan ePost it!.

Upcoming services include ePost a Photo, ePost a Card, Themed Stationery, Business ePosts and an Address Verification System utilising Australia Posts FuturePostTM infrastructure. FuturePostTM is a $500 million investment by Australia Post in plant and equipment which transformed their national letters and parcels network and resulted in the introduction of national quality addressing standards and barcodes on mail.

The price of an ePost covers postage (AUD 50 cent stamp), stationery (paper and envelope) and conversion (printing, packing and delivery). A user in Canada will save 48% on the standard price of an airmail from Canada Post. From the US, a 26% saving compared to US Post and London, a 53% saving compared to Royal Mail.

Fukura Pty Limited, owners and operators of the ePost service are a private Australian organisation. Their core business is the operation of the ePost service.

Interviews and further information are offered to the media to interest their target audience.
